Auburn In The NFL Draft

The Auburn Tigers had lots of players taken throughout the 2020 NFL Draft especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Derrick Brown - Carolina Panthers (Round 1 - 7th Pick)

Big number five from Auburn did not have to wait long to hear the commissioner say his name on Thursday night. Derrick Brown was selected by new head coach Matt Rhule and the Carolina Panthers with the 7th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Derrick Brown was one of two defensive linemen picked by the Panthers as Carolina tries to rebuild their defense after being one of the worst in the league last season. Although Brown was projected to be a first rounder in last season's NFL Draft, he chose to come back to Auburn and it ended up paying off. It looks like Derrick Brown will not only be a key piece in the Rhule Restoration in Charlotte, but will also be chasing around quarterbacks in the NFL just like his college days as a Tiger.

Noah Igbinoghene - Miami Dolphins (Round 1 - 30th Pick)

It definitely seems like the decision to declare for the NFL Draft as a junior was the right decision for the former Auburn Tiger cornerback. Noah Igbinoghene was drafted by the Miami Dolphins with the 30th overall pick. Prior to the 2018 season Noah made the switch from wide receiver to cornerback and since has never looked back. He would start the 2018 and 2019 seasons for the Auburn Tigers before declaring for the draft. He will join a rebuilding team in Miami which also drafted quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the first round as well. The cornerback room in Miami despite most everything else on their team is actually pretty strong, but the former Auburn Tiger should be just fine.

Marlon Davidson - Atlanta Falcons (Round 2 - 47th Pick)

Coming back for his senior season definitely faired well for the former Tiger defensive linemen. Marlon Davidson was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 47th pick. Davidson is one key member of the many defensive players that Dan Quinn and the Atlanta Falcons selected during the draft. Davidson will join forces with Grady Jarrett on the Falcons defensive line as they try to go after quarterbacks like Drew Brees and Tom Brady in the NFC South.

Jack Driscoll - Philadelphia Eagles (Round 4 - 145th Pick)

On the third day of the 2020 NFL Draft Jack Driscoll heard his name called by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round with the 145th pick. Driscoll transferred to Auburn from UMass after 2017 season and once he got to the plains started every game in 2018 and 2019 has the right tackle for the Tigers. He will join the Philadelphia Eagles and look to protect quarterback Carson Wentz who has been injury prone lately.

Daniel Thomas - Jacksonville Jaguars (Round 5 - 157th Pick)

After capping off a great senior season for the Auburn Tigers Daniel Thomas was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 157th overall pick ion the 5th round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Daniel Thomas was a team captain in his senior season for the Tigers and had 199 career tackles and 5 interceptions. Thomas will join a Jacksonville defense that is trying to get back to what they were when the Jaguars went to the AFC Championship Game in 2018.

Prince Tega Wanogho - Philadelphia Eagles

(Round 6 - 210th Pick)

Prince Tega Wanogho moved to Alabama from Nigeria in hopes of becoming a basketball player. He only played one season of high school football before committing to Auburn. Since 2017 Prince Tega Wanogho has been Auburn's starting left tackle, starting 32 games as a Tiger. Prince Tega Wanogho has drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round with the 210th overall pick. Prince Tega looks to join his teammate Jack Driscoll trying to protect quarterback Carson Wentz.
